DRIVEWAY CONSTRUCTION STANDARDS
A concrete driveway performs based on decisions made before the truck arrives. These five factors determine whether a surface holds its shape or begins to fail within a few seasons.
Base Preparation
The ground is dug out, levelled, and compacted before any concrete is placed. A weak base lets the driveway settle later.
Slab Thickness
Four inches suits ordinary cars. Six inches is correct if trucks, vans, or heavy equipment use the driveway regularly.
Reinforcement
Wire mesh spreads stress across the slab. Rebar adds strength beneath it. Your choice sets both performance and warranty coverage.
Slope and Drainage
The surface is graded so water runs away from your home. On land this flat with rain this heavy, drainage cannot be an afterthought.
Controlled Curing
South Florida heat speeds up curing and raises the risk of cracking. We adjust the mix and time the pour around the temperature.

Most driveway quotes in Miami list a price and a square footage without naming the specification behind it. We do the opposite. Here are the three options we install, the reinforcement each one carries, and the warranty attached to it.
Non-Reinforced Concrete, Four to Six Inches
One year limited workmanship warranty. No coverage against cracking, settlement, or movement. Suited to light duty surfaces only.
Four Inch Concrete with Wire Mesh
Five year limited workmanship warranty. The most common residential specification.
Six Inch Reinforced Concrete with Wire Mesh and Rebar
Ten year limited structural and workmanship warranty. Our strongest specification, correct for heavy vehicles, RVs, and commercial use.

A new driveway is a significant investment in your property. Below are answers to the questions we hear most often from homeowners across Miami, Florida and the surrounding South Florida communities.
How long does concrete driveway installation take?
Most residential driveways are completed within two to four days of active work. That covers removal of the existing surface, excavation and base preparation, forming, reinforcement, and the pour itself. Larger driveways, properties with difficult access, and projects requiring significant grading may take longer. Cure time is separate from installation time. You can typically walk on the surface within a day or two, and vehicle traffic is generally safe after about seven days. We give you a specific timeline during the estimate so there are no surprises on your calendar.
What thickness do you recommend for a residential driveway?
Four inches is the standard for driveways carrying ordinary passenger vehicles, and it performs well when the base is properly prepared and the slab is reinforced. Six inches is the better choice if you park a truck, a work van, an RV, or a boat trailer, or if delivery vehicles regularly use the surface. Thickness alone does not determine how a driveway performs, though. A well prepared four inch pour will consistently outlast a six inch pour placed on a poorly compacted base. We recommend a concrete driveway thickness based on how the surface will actually be used rather than defaulting to one standard for every property.
What is the difference between wire mesh and rebar reinforcement?
Wire mesh is a welded grid placed within the slab that distributes surface stress and holds the concrete together if a crack does form. It is the standard reinforcement for residential driveways and it carries a five year limited workmanship warranty with us. Rebar is heavier steel bar that adds structural capacity to the slab rather than only surface stability. When we combine rebar with wire mesh in a six inch pour, the result carries a ten year limited structural and workmanship warranty. The practical difference is load. If heavy vehicles will use the surface, rebar is worth the additional cost.
Do you remove the old driveway, or do I need a separate contractor?
We handle it. This is one of the areas where owning our own equipment makes a real difference to your cost and your schedule. Many concrete companies subcontract the demolition and hauling, which adds a markup and creates a scheduling dependency they do not control. We remove the existing surface, haul the debris away in our own trucks, excavate and compact the base, and pour the replacement. Concrete driveway replacement is quoted as one scope with one company accountable for the finished result.
Will my new concrete driveway crack?
Concrete is a rigid material and hairline surface cracking is normal over time in any climate. The question is whether cracking affects the structural integrity or appearance of the driveway, and that comes down to base preparation, reinforcement, control joint placement, and cure conditions. Control joints are cut into the surface at planned intervals so that any movement occurs along a straight line rather than randomly across the slab. Reinforced specifications hold the concrete together as the ground shifts beneath it. This is also the reason our non-reinforced option carries no warranty against cracking, and we state that openly before you choose it.
How long before I can drive on a new concrete driveway?
Foot traffic is generally safe after twenty four to forty eight hours. Passenger vehicles can typically use the surface after about seven days. Heavier vehicles such as trucks, RVs, or delivery vehicles should wait closer to twenty eight days, which is roughly when concrete reaches full design strength. South Florida heat accelerates the early stages of curing, which can be misleading. A surface that feels hard is not necessarily ready for load. We give you specific dates for your project and we would rather you wait a few extra days than compromise a driveway you just paid for.
Can I expand or widen my driveway during replacement?
Yes, and replacement is by far the most cost effective time to do it. Because the equipment is already on site and the base work is already underway, widening the surface, adding a parking pad, or extending toward a side yard costs considerably less than doing it as a separate project later. Widening is worth considering if you have added vehicles, if guests regularly park on the grass, or if turning in and out of the current driveway is tight. We measure the available space during the site visit and show you the options.
Should I choose concrete or pavers for a Miami driveway?
Both are common in South Florida and each has genuine advantages. Pavers offer more design variety and individual units can be lifted and reset if settlement occurs. Concrete provides a continuous surface with no joints for weeds or ants, requires less ongoing maintenance, and generally costs less to install across a large area. Concrete also handles heavy vehicle loads better when properly reinforced. If you want a specific decorative pattern, pavers may suit you better. If you want a durable, low maintenance surface at a lower installed cost, concrete is usually the stronger choice.
How do you handle drainage on a driveway installation?
Drainage is planned before the base is compacted, not corrected afterward. We set the slope so water moves away from your home and toward an appropriate outlet, whether that is the street, a swale, or an existing drainage point on the property. In South Florida this matters more than in most regions. The land is flat, the water table is high, and seasonal rainfall arrives in volume. A driveway that holds standing water is not only inconvenient, it accelerates surface deterioration and can direct water toward your foundation.
What warranty comes with a new concrete driveway?
Our warranty is tied directly to the specification you select and stated in writing before work begins. Non-reinforced concrete poured at four to six inches carries a one year limited workmanship warranty, with no coverage against cracking, settlement, or movement. Four inch concrete with wire mesh carries a five year limited workmanship warranty. Six inch reinforced concrete with wire mesh and rebar carries a ten year limited structural and workmanship warranty. We explain these options during the estimate so you can weigh the cost difference against the coverage difference yourself.
Do you install driveways for commercial properties?
Yes. Roughly half our work is commercial, and that includes driveways, access aprons, parking pads, and approach surfaces for commercial buildings, multi-unit properties, and industrial sites. Commercial surfaces generally require the six inch reinforced specification because of vehicle weight and traffic frequency. We also coordinate around business hours and inspection schedules where required, which matters when a property cannot afford to close access for several days.
