STEP 1

Understanding Your Project

We start with what you are trying to accomplish. The property, the scope, your timeline, and whether the job is a repair, a replacement, or new work. The goal is to understand the project properly before anyone talks about a number.

STEP 2

Recommendations and Questions

Once the scope is clear, we will recommend an approach and explain the options. This is also the point to ask anything you want about materials, specifications, warranty terms, or how the schedule will run.

STEP 3

Pricing and Site Visit

Some projects can be priced on the call. Most benefit from a site visit first, because soil, drainage, and access all affect the number, and a figure given without seeing the property is a guess.

STEP 4

Scheduling the Work

If the approach fits, we confirm the specification, the warranty term attached to it, and a start date. Estimates are typically returned within two days of the site visit.

We aim to make the process straightforward and the pricing clear. Whatever your project involves, you will always know what stage it is in and what happens next.

Frequently Asked Questions

Concrete and site work projects raise real questions about cost, timing, specifications, and warranty coverage. Here are honest answers to the questions we hear most often from property owners across Miami, Florida and South Florida.

  • Are you licensed and insured for concrete work in Miami, Florida?

Yes. Stones Throw Construction & Development is fully licensed and insured for both residential and commercial concrete work throughout Florida. That coverage protects you as the property owner and it protects our crew while they are on your site. We are happy to provide proof of licensing and insurance before any work begins, and we recommend asking any contractor for the same documentation before you sign a contract. If a company hesitates when you ask, that hesitation tells you something worth knowing.

  • What types of projects do you handle?

On the concrete side we pour and replace driveways, slabs, and foundations, and we handle full concrete removal and replacement. On the site work side we provide excavation and grading, land clearing and site preparation, and demolition with debris removal. Our work splits roughly evenly between residential and commercial clients, so we are equally comfortable pouring a single family driveway or preparing a commercial parcel for development. If your project spans both categories, you are dealing with one company for the entire scope.

  • How much does a concrete driveway cost in Miami, Florida?

Driveway pricing in South Florida depends on three main variables. The first is size, measured in square footage. The second is the specification you select, since a non-reinforced pour, a pour with wire mesh, and a fully reinforced pour with mesh and rebar carry different material costs and different warranty terms. The third is site condition, including whether an existing driveway needs to be removed, how accessible the property is, and whether any grading or base work is required. We give you a detailed estimate after a site visit rather than a rough number over the phone, because a number given without seeing the property is a guess.

  • What warranty do you offer on your concrete work?

Our warranty is tied directly to the concrete specification you select, and the terms are stated in writing before work begins. Non-reinforced concrete poured at four to six inches carries a one year limited workmanship warranty, and no warranty is provided against cracking, settlement, or movement. Four inch concrete with wire mesh carries a five year limited workmanship warranty. Six inch reinforced concrete with both wire mesh and rebar carries a ten year limited structural and workmanship warranty. We walk you through these options during the estimate so you can weigh the cost difference against the coverage difference and choose accordingly.

  • Do you handle both residential and commercial projects?

Yes, and our work is split close to evenly between the two. On the residential side we work directly with homeowners on driveways, patios, slabs, foundations, and property clearing. On the commercial side we work with general contractors, developers, and property managers on site preparation, commercial slabs, land clearing, and demolition. The two sides of the business require different scheduling, different documentation, and different coordination, and we run them accordingly. Commercial clients receive the inspection coordination and build calendar alignment their projects require.

  • Do you offer concrete removal and replacement?

Yes, and this is one of the areas where owning our own equipment matters most. Many concrete companies subcontract the tear-out and hauling, which adds cost and adds a scheduling dependency outside their control. We remove the old concrete, haul it away, prepare the base, and pour the replacement using our own excavators, trucks, and crew. That applies to driveways, slabs, walkways, patios, and asphalt surfaces. One contract covers the entire sequence and one company is accountable for the finished result.

  • How thick should a concrete driveway or slab be?

For most residential driveways in South Florida, four inches is the common standard, though six inches is the better choice where heavier vehicles, trucks, or equipment will be parked or driven regularly. Slabs supporting structures, garages, or commercial loads generally require six inches with reinforcement. Thickness alone does not determine performance, though. Base preparation, compaction, and reinforcement matter just as much, and a properly prepared four inch pour will outperform a poorly prepared six inch pour. We recommend a specification based on how the surface will actually be used rather than defaulting to a single standard for every job.

  • How soon can you start on a project?

Faster than most. We respond to new inquiries within minutes, and because we own our equipment and run our own crews, we are not waiting on subcontractor availability to lock in a start date. Actual timing depends on the current schedule, the scope of your project, and whether any permits are required. For smaller residential work we can often begin within days of an approved estimate. For larger commercial projects with permitting requirements, we give you a realistic date during the estimate rather than an optimistic one we cannot hold.

  • How long does a typical concrete project take?

Most residential driveways and slabs are completed in two to four days of active work, covering removal if needed, base preparation, forming, pouring, and finishing. Larger commercial pours and full site preparation packages take longer and depend heavily on parcel size and site conditions. Cure time is separate from installation time. Concrete is generally ready for foot traffic within a day or two and ready for vehicle traffic after roughly seven days, though full strength develops over about twenty eight days. We give you specific timelines for your project during the estimate.

  • Do you handle excavation and land clearing as well as concrete?

Yes. Excavation, grading, land clearing, site preparation, and demolition are core services for us, not add-ons we broker out. This is a genuine advantage on any project where concrete follows earthwork, because the same company controls both halves of the sequence. The crew preparing your base is the crew pouring on top of it, which removes the finger-pointing that happens when grading and concrete are handled by two separate contractors with two separate contracts.

  • What areas do you serve outside of Miami?

Our core service area is Miami-Dade County, covering Coral Gables, Hialeah, Doral, Kendall, Homestead, Miami Beach, Miami Lakes, Aventura, Cutler Bay, Palmetto Bay, Pinecrest, North Miami, and the surrounding communities. We also work throughout Broward County, including Fort Lauderdale, Hollywood, Pembroke Pines, Miramar, Davie, Plantation, Weston, and Pompano Beach. We serve select Palm Beach County communities such as Boca Raton, Delray Beach, and Boynton Beach as well. If your property sits outside these areas, contact us and we will tell you honestly whether we can serve it well.

  • Who will be my point of contact during the project?

Alan, the owner, handles your project directly. He takes the initial call, performs the site visit, prepares the estimate, and is physically present on the job site while the work is being completed. You are not passed between a salesperson, a scheduler, and a foreman who have never spoken to each other. One person knows your project, and that person is the one standing on your property.

  • Do you remove and dispose of debris and old materials?

es. Material hauling and disposal are handled in house on every project, whether that is broken concrete from a driveway removal, vegetation from a clearing job, or construction debris from a demolition. We own the trucks and manage the disposal ourselves, which means it is included in your scope rather than rebilled as a separate line item through a third party. Your site is left clean and ready for whatever comes next.

  • What is the best time of year to pour concrete in South Florida?

Concrete can be poured year-round in South Florida, which is one of the advantages of working in this climate. That said, timing does affect the pour. The summer rainy season brings afternoon storms that can interfere with finishing and affect the surface, so we schedule pours for earlier in the day during those months. The dry season from roughly November through April offers the most predictable conditions. High heat also accelerates cure time, which we account for through mix adjustments and pour scheduling. In practice, we work around the weather rather than waiting for it.
